About the college

Imperial Valley College opened its doors to students in 1962 on a 160-acre campus near the City of Imperial in Imperial County. IVC is the primary campus of the Imperial Community College District which includes virtually all of Imperial County except a small area in the northwest corner of the county that is part of the Desert Community College District. The college today serves seven feeder high school districts. In recent years, with local voter support of two Bond measures, IVC has extensively modernized its classrooms and added a state of the art 70,000 square foot science and classroom building as well as new Career Technical Education classrooms and labs.
